Flexitank

What is a Flexitank?

The flexitank, also called flexibag or flexitanque, is a large flexible bag or tank that transforms a conventional 20'DV container into a safe and efficient system for shipping liquids in bulk.
WHAT LIQUIDS CAN BE TRANSPORTED?
In general, almost any type of non-hazardous liquid can be transported. Below, you can consult the list of liquids that can be transported in a flexitank.
FLEXITANK CAPACITY
The flexitank can transport between 10,000 and 24,000 litres. The most popular models are the 16,000, 18,000, 20,000, 22,000 and 24,000 litres. The selected model will depend on the product being transported, although, normally the highest capacity model is chosen.

TYPES OF FLEXITANK:

Flexitanks single use or reusable
Before the arrival of the 21st century, flexitanks were multipurpose. However, Cabeza Group currently works with single-use flexitanks, so we ensure that the products do not infect each other.
Flexitanks upper or lower load

  • Upload / download above: the flexitank is formed by a valve on top of it, which entails a tedious task on the part of the operator for loading and / or unloading. The activity can be carried out by gravity, but it is an unsafe system, more difficult and more expensive in time.

  • Upload / download below: in this case, the valve is located in the lower front part of the flexitank. In this case it is easier to connect the hose to load or unload.
Flexitank with thermal insulation

  • Depending on product type, atmospheric conditions and desired temperature range, we can install the flexitank with thermal insulation, with which we can ensure the ideal temperature for your products from loading to unloading at destination.
Number of layers of a flexitank
Considering the number of layers with which it is manufactured, there are three types of flexitank:

  • Multilayer flexitanks: the main advantage of the multilayer flexitanks is that each layer is very thin and flexible, which makes it very easy to finish the unloading by winding the flexitank semi-empty so as not to leave waste; However, as they are very thin layers, they can be broken and the extraction of the products is difficult.

  • Monolayer Flexitanks: this type of equipment is made of a single layer of polyethylene thicker than multilayer and, therefore, less flexible. This model solves the problem of multilayer flexitanks (impossibility to extract the product remaining between the layers); However, in the case of a product that is not very flexible, a rupture in the bag can occur.

  • Bilayer flexitanks: it is the result of uniting the advantages of the two previous flexitanks. It is manufactured with a layer of polyethylene, hard as is the flexitank monocapa but fine and flexible.
